What are some character actors that are suddenly in everything for a short time and then disappear?

I just watched the new Mission Impossible and was so happy to see Henry Czerny back as Kittridge. His cadence and voice is very unique. But for a short time he was everywhere, in Clear and Present Danger, MI and The Ice Storm.

Then he wasn't as up front as he was before.

Can you guys name some actors that were like that?
