The Mummy (2017) would have been ok if the studio just let it be it's own thing instead of marketing it as a remake

I'm watching it on Hulu. It's really not that BAD. It has nothing to do with the original. It has it's own plot. I really think if they had marketed it as a whole new franchise instead of a reimagining, it wouldn't have doomed the Dark Universe. Personally, I'd have checked it out. I always dug the Universal monsters.
