Surprised there isn't an official thread for this movie so I thought i'd make one. As someone who grew up watching the show I was pumped as hell for this film(and i'm very glad that Jamie-Lynn and Britney seem to have mended fences) and while I was bummed that Dana, Nicole(whose name never gets mentioned in the film weirdly enough) and Lola(apparently Victoria Justice wanted to do it but she was busy when the film was being shot) weren't in the film(though with Alexa Nicholas having issues with Nick I totally get it) I was still excited and I have to say it turned out pretty good overall. There's enough nostalgia for old fans thrown in without going too overboard and the characters still feel as likable as ever(the funniest bit hands down is Michael singing Limp Bizkit's "Rollin" at karaoke) and overall the plot moves along at a nice brisk pace so the film never drags too much. Logan's sister Lyric(who I don't recall ever being mentioned on the show) was a bit of a weird inclusion though, it definitely feels like her part was written with Lola in mind. I will say though I wasn't crazy about the ret-coning of the show's finale as it's said that Zoey left Chase in Hawaii, iCarly revival also did that with the original shows finale as well and I wasn't crazy about it there either, you could've easily had both couples break up without doing that, why not just have them drift apart when they go to college? That's how most high-school couples end. Having Zoey explain that she left Chase because she was so used to things not working out between them that she was afraid of what would happen if they did just didn't quite ring true to me and felt like kinda sloppy writing, but them finally reconnecting did make up for it and it was great to see Quinn and Logan together. Also the film did surprise me with how it handled Zoey's jerkass boss(she works for a cheesy reality-dating show that has plenty of jabs at those kinds of shows about how the outcome is already pre-determined, the main star is such an idiot that when he accidentally hits his head and loses the last 6 months of his memory nobody notices)as she plans to quit but when he makes her an offer for more money she accepts and it actually feels true to her character.
Also one-last thing, WTF was up with the film ending with the shot revealing that Zoey's fake-boyfriend randomly is the Malibu Murderer? Seems like a weirdly dark note to end an otherwise light-hearted rom-com on(unless there's a sequel planned) but overall I had a pretty good time with his movie overall and I would definitely not be adverse to a sequel or a revival series.
What did you all think of it?
