On The Silence of the Lambs poster, there is a moth on Jodie Foster's mouth, and it looks like there's a skull on the butterfly. But If you take a closer look, you'll see the skull is made of women in different poses. This is actually a pastiche of Salvador Dali's "In Voluptas Mors" (1951).
And given how the entire plot is about a villain who removes other peoples’ flesh—it's extremely unsettling.
