3:10 to Yuma has one of the oddest character deaths I have ever seen.

(Spoilers below, but the movie is over 15 years old)

Midway through the movie when Ben Wade (Russell Crowe's character) knocks Byron McElroy (Peter Fonda's character) to the ground and then casually tosses him off a cliff, I had to rewind the scene three times just to make sure I actually saw things correctly. As far as I could tell, there isn't a cliff in the scene for him to get tossed off of. In no shot leading up to that scene or right after that scene is there a cliff, and yet, Wade just chucks McElroy off a cliff like a ragdoll. It was so strange, especially in the middle of such a good movie.
