Actors whose most recognizable role is vastly different from the type of characters they usually play

For every Al Pacino or Tom Cruise or Jim Carrey which you know what are you going to get in almost every movie there's also the counterpart. This unique selection of actors that have one role which they are associated with but strangely enough is far different from every other role they have in their filmography. Some of these examples include:

-Robert De Niro as Travis Bickle in Taxi Driver (1976)

-Heath Ledger as The Joker in The Dark Knight (2008)

-Rachel McAdams as Regina George in Mean Girls (2004)

-Jeff Bridges as The Dudes in The Big Lebowski (1998)

-Judy Garland as Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz (1939)

Do you have any other examples of this kind of actors?

EDIT: I'm not talking about roles that go against type. No, Daniel Craig's most recognizable role is James Bond and he usually plays similar action roles while the Knives out movies go against his type. Same with Jim Carrey and Will Ferrell. They usually play the same kind of role and sometimes do something completely different but those are not the roles they are mostly remembered for.
