What’s Love Got to Do With It (2022)

Couldn't find a recent post about this film so here it is!

Currently sitting at 71% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes (no audience review yet), I thought it was a pleasant film but it really did not go where I thought it would.

It is trying to make a lot of good points about love, marriage, relationships, with some post-modern views on it (that old ways have their merits, for instance), just to do a complete 180 on absolutely everything. It was a good watch, but the lack of balls with the story and ideas make it a very forgettable flick.

Emma Thompson was a gem in the few scenes she had. Shazad Latif was very charming and really sold his point of view before the 180. Lily James was a good as ever, but anyone else would have worked in this role.
