Has the widespread legalization of marijuana in the US made the stoner movie pointless?

Now that many states in the US have legalized weed, I’ve noticed that there haven’t been as many stoner comedies as there were in the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s and even 2000’s (❤️ Harold & Kumar). Do you think part of the allure of these films was the fact that doing pot was illegal and half the comedy was there in the illicit drug use? I mean, alcohol is legal, but we don’t have drunk comedies… or do we… (Beerfest)?

EDIT: I mean to say, do you think Hollywood doesn’t make stoner comedies anymore because weed is legal now?
