The Rotten Tomatoes % is an answer to a Yes or No question. That’s all.

All Rotten Tomatoes does is ask critics “Did you like the movie, Yes or No?”

The percentage shows you how many people said Yes.

That’s literally all it does.

If you’re trying to glean an accurate measure of quality from a Yes or No question, then you’re going to fail. There is no indicator in the % that shows HOW MUCH or HOW LITTLE a person liked it.

Once you understand what the RT score actually is, then you can interpret the results accurately and stop getting so upset when you fall into the smaller % category.

The RT % is NOT trying to tell you the quality of the movie, so please stop going there expecting to find it. Go to metacritic if you want that information or use the RT average score.

The RT % is a recommendation tool to help you decide whether a movie is worth checking or not, and then you can decide the quality after you’ve seen it.
