A Wish About Bad Times at the El Royale

I just watched this last night, and liked it more than I thought I would. I adore stories where a bunch of strangers all descend upon one place and weird shit starts to happen. So, I was pretty primed for this, and did enjoy and appreciate what it was going for.

However, there were many times when I kept thinking it would have been better if it had become a miniseries rather than a film. Certain points and switches during the film felt like they would have been stellar cliffhangers onto the end of episodes and given the ensemble a show version could have gone deeply into all their backstories rather than truncating them as much as possible.

I know the pacing and piecing together is a big complaint of the film, and it sucks, because I think the potential is well and truly there, but would have benefitted greatly from a longer format. Getting to know each of those characters more intimately, and being taken on all those journeys could have made for a wild ride and made the ending more impactful. Just my 2 cents as this was my main thought I took away from it by the end.
