Since we’ve sooo many reboots the last decade or so, why haven’t we had a Running Man remake?
I feel with reality television becoming almost the number one category in television, this movie was ahead of it’s time. In the movie this idea of prisoners being put into a game where they fight for their chance to win freedom or die, it seemed a little over-the-top, Roman gladiator at the time, but I’m surprised it hasn’t happened in real life yet. I’m sure there’s been at least a couple discussions about it among execs when they’ve had a few drinks or what-not.
With desensitization happening to us via social media and the god-dammed nightly news…… isn’t it time we have a legit, big-budget remake of “The Running Man”?
PS: if this somehow is seen by any movie execs and it happens, I’d like to formally and cordially request a cameo as a soldier in the back-ground during the “Butcher of Bakersfield” scene. And be killed gruesomely.
Thanks!
Edit: Looks like we are getting one!! Thanks.
And since we’re on the topic of Richard Bachman books (aka Stephen King)….. I’ve always been intrigued by a movie version of his short novel, The Long Walk.
Could also be a reality television themed contest to the death.
