Audrey Hepburn and Shirley MacLaine in a Lesbian movie, THE CHILDREN'S HOUR, and nobody ever talks about it.

It is often maligned as a lesser adaptation of Lillian Hellman's play and it didn't do well but I thought it was a good movie.

It reminded me of how good of an actress Shirley MacLaine can be, she's absolutely devastating as Martha Dobie, and I don't get how people felt that it was homophobic. Martha's rant is what many LGBT people felt in a time where being gay was a crime and I liked how Audrey Hepburn's Karen has no judgment and is the one trying to comfort her friend.

I mean, let's face it, gay or straight, it's not difficult to understand why anyone would fall for Audrey Hepburn. Even in such a serious part, and Hepburn doesn't get enough credit for her acting, she plays her part with aplomb. Karen is a pretty ambiguous character and in the scenes of her thinking, we never really know what is in her mind.
