I've heard the trope for a long time that Stephen King's drama books are only adapted well and that his horrors aren't. I'd say that Carrie, Misery, Dead Zone, IT (pt 1), The Shining, Creepshow, Dolores Claiborne, and The Mist are all good horror movies. There's a couple others I'd make a case for too.
Now if you make it as a fraction of all of them, maybe there's a bit too much water in the milk, but I think his top five adaptations are up there with anyones.
