Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark

I watched this with my kids last night. Classic movie, everyone loves it.

It was interesting seeing it with fresh eyes. My kids thought it was funny how fake the fight scenes were, they didn't think he was really punching those bad guys. The car chase scenes were a little funny too. He steals the truck and they're chasing him down the road. They have mounted machine guns and all manner of hand guns, but they don't just shoot him, or not very much anyway.

They made a big deal about finding the medallion and the staff and all that, but my son just laughed and said "Ooh they kept it in the really big temple right in the middle, what a surprise.

After the Nazis caught him in the Well of Souls, how corny was it that he just crawled out through another hole. The temple was supposedly buried, but there was a clearly unburied wall with an easily movable stone

They never explain why Marion was mad at him in the beginning. They dated and he left or something? Was she a student, or just the daughter of his mentor? She makes a huge show of being mad and then immediately forgives him.

There's the idea from Big Bang or something that Indy didn't do anything effective in the movie, but without Indy the Nazis would have kept the Ark, even after it initially killed the guys that opened it the first time.

It's Indiana Jones and it was great. Just funny how movie tropes and qualities change over time.

I can say it was refreshing watching a movie where everyone knew and agreed that Nazis are bad.
