Watched T2 Trainspotting for the first time yesterday. I’m confused about what year it’s set in?
The first one is set in the late ‘80s, possibly very early ‘90s. Then in the sequel they keep saying Renton’s been gone for 20 years. That would place T2 somewhere between 2007 and 2011 ish, right? Except the characters use Face Swap in T2 which didn’t even come out until 2015. Based on stuff like that as well as the music, T2 seems to be set in the year it was released, 2017. So really wouldn’t that mean Renton’s been gone for 26-30 years? Anyone have a concrete answer on this? Thanks!
