The Thin Red Line

Terrence Malick's first feature film in 20 years since Days of Heaven (my personal favorite of his), The Thin Red Line sees the director moving onto a larger scope of direction and visuals as he crafts his own meditation of war. The Thin Red Line can be difficult for others to endure, mostly due to it's nearly 3 hour runtime and slow but meditative pacing, but stands as a philosophical approach to humanity and a psychological lens of the terrors of war that stands as one of Malick's finest works.
