If you're looking for a nice slasher movie to watch in these holidays, The Final Girls is a good option. It happens to have a nice take in the genre, and it's original enough to be interesting. It also has its hearth in the right place.
I felt tempted to post a link to the trailer, but it gives too much away, or at least, things that are better discovered watching the film. (Side note: what's with trailers these times? I remember not watching Cabin in the Woods because its trailer made it seem just like a boring re-hash of the genre).
If you've seen "Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon", it has similar vibe.
