Halloween: Resurrection aka the movie where Busta Rhymes Kung Fu kicks Michael Myers out of a window
Halloween: Resurrection is a bad movie and like what Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers did back in 1995, it ran the franchise into the ground so much that the next installment had to be a reboot (whether that be H20 or the 2007 Rob Zombie remake). With that said, I'd still put it above Curse for a few highlights.
One thing I really don't like about Resurrection is how much it retcons the ending of H20. You see, Laurie Strode didn't actually decapitate Michael at the end of that movie, it was actually an EMT that Michael Myers switched places with by crushing his windpipe, rendering him mute and swapping their clothes. It just felt so forced . H20 felt like a good end to Laurie's story but no, we gotta have another sequel and bring back Jamie Lee Curtis and have her killed off in the first 20 minutes. Thanks Miramax!
Still, I will commend Resurrection for at least trying something different with the franchise. The whole reality show found footage gimmick was an obvious attempt to cash-in on the success of The Blair Witch Project. Too bad the novelty wears off and the moments where the shots switch back from POV to just a regular camera angle got annoying real fast.
And then there's the cast. They're all pretty forgettable horror movie types you know will get axed off. The only highlight is Busta Rhymes who just steals every scene he's in (for better or worse). Whether it be him pretending to be Michael Myers (and later confronting him in said costume) or electrocuting him in the balls. He's the most entertaining part of this movie, but it sucks how Michael Myers is just treating as some cheap joke opposed to the absolute embodiment of evil.
So yeah, Halloween: Resurrection isn't good, but it at least has some so bad it's good moments unlike Halloween 6 which I found completely dull and boring. What do you think of Halloween: Resurrection?
