I still can’t believe the injustice that Beasts of No Nation faced in 2015. Four major movie chains in USA (AMC, Regal, Cinemark, and Carmike) refused to show this movie over Netflix release strategy. It didn’t get a single Academy Award nomination. Idris Elba and Abraham Attah both were robbed along with Cary Joji Fukunaga in both direction and cinematography categories. I always thought it was one of the best of the year, if not the best. But the way this movie was treated was highly unfortunate. I am so glad that Criterion showed the proper respect and decided to release this great movie.
