I don't know what it is about this film but it seems like every time I'm struggling to think of something to watch I end up back here and every time it manages to exceed expectations.
I've always enjoyed Ben Stiller as the "Straight Man" archetype in comedy and he plays this role well alongside the rather contrasting characters of Richard Ayoade, Vince Vaughn and Jonah Hill.
The story itself is essentially just another bodysnatchers spoof but the movie contains some surprisingly hilarious lines and fantastic delivery.
The supporting cast is nothing to be sniffed at either, with some gloriously poetic cursing as per usual from R. Lee Ermy, Will Forte as the inept local police and even a young Erin Moriarty who went on to be a big name in The Boys. Not to mention the literal circle-jerk cameo from The Lonely Island boys.
It's got surprising re-watch-ability value and some of the more quotable lines always pop into my head days later and get another laugh.
Don't expect complex plot lines or in-depth character development but do expect to chuckle and be pleasantly surprised when you end up full-blown belly-laughing.
