Rewatched Trading Places for obvious reasons. It is a much weirder movie than I remembered from when I first saw it around a decade ago. I distinctly remembered the failed suicide scene, but had completely forgotten about the gorilla rape and the blackface scene. Overall still a pretty solid old-school comedy though. Akroyd and Murphy are both great in it, and even though everything is over-exaggerated to the point of parody, it still has charm and doesn’t feel like a 2hr film. Plus, as I stated at the top, it features a short-squeeze, just like we’re seeing play out IRL, although with different types of actors and commodities vs stocks.
