What are some forgettable works from well respected directors?

Personally, I didn't think much about Hugo from 2011. I love a lot of Martin Scorsese works like Goodfellas, Raging Bull, and Taxi Driver. Hugo on the other hand was pretty meh to me. I thought that the lead performance to be forgettable and the supporting actors to be underwhelming. I respect that Hugo is Scorsese's love letter to cinema but it didn't left a huge impact on me.
