Was Spy Kids (2001) a really popular movie when it came out or was it just a weird fever dream?

Earlier I decided to rewatch the cinematic classic, Spy Kids, because I remember it being a blockbuster when I was a kid. Imagine my surprise that instead of it being the fantastical spy piece I remember, it was a poorly done Nickelodeon-esque attempt at being a Disney Channel movie.

Does anybody else remember this movie hugely popular when it came out?
