Our constant method of viewing everything critically may be hindering our enjoyment.

Mainly to everyone who spends hours on forums and watching YouTube videos, compared to previous generations, the internet has made it more easier to have discussions about fiction, more people can give their opinions on certain things and it's a great haven for anyone that wants to become an inspiring artist or writer. But I also feel people who spend to much time discussing fiction are enjoying it less. Again it's not bad to discuss things like plot holes, or overused tropes, or clichés and pointing out how they can be problematic as again it can help up and coming writers on what and not what to do. But it seems people are less discussing and more ranting with genuine anger when a work doesn't go the way they wanted it to. We are watching shows and movies with less enjoyment and more like homework where we are always on edge hoping that it doesn't go the way we hope it doesn't. For some it's literally their job but it's one that sort of scares me but it's also understandable. I have said that watching things when you were younger was so much better as you weren't really exposed to so much discourse, you could enjoy it without a care in the world then look back to it again when you get older to see if it holds up or not. But now that we know about so many tropes and writing methods, it becomes less enjoyable for the critical side of the audience who tend to demand more realism it fiction and it can be pretty difficult because certain works are made for just pure entertainment and the general audience just want they want. Trying to have both can be impossible without either getting to depressing or to fantastical. And I can understand how we have to point out certain tropes that can be problematic as it can teach harmful lessons to the uneducated and misinformed. It does kind of suck that we have gotten to this point but when I think about it, it's always been this way but the internet has just made it bigger.
