Hubie Halloween has all of the ingredients of the Sandler classics without the energy which is why I hate it

First off, this post is *not* hating on Adam Sandler. He's paid extraordinarily well to churn out shit as a cheap excuse to hang out with his friends in varied locations. We'd all do the same. However, though this is not the first Sandler movie that I dislike, it is the first one that I watched from start to finish without anything evoking a laugh.

This movie has all of the elements of his classics like Waterboy, Happy Gilmore, and Billy Madison, but it has none of the magic.

It's not the first one to rip off the ingredients and formula, but it is the most painful example of a low energy output. This movie has all of the vitality you would see if the actors just sat around a table reading the script. Some of Sandler's deliveries could have been played from a script reading recording for all of the effort he puts into the delivery.

All of the actors are present (e.g., Buschemi), but they phone it in.

Likewise, you have the same roles hot girl, unacknowledged desire, tough guy, bullies, O'Doyle, but they are all pitiful, pale comparisons to their earlier incarnations (e.g., older, overweight mother-->but she sure as hell is no Kathy Bates clone from Waterboy, for instance).

I'd even put this movie below Jack and Jill because I at least laughed at one or two moments in that movie.

This was just depressing in it complete absence of life. Even the slapstick portions were horribly and woefully predictable, repetitive, and poorly executed.

He can churn out shit that's formulaic, but I'd like it to, at the very least, have some energy behind the production.

What do others think? Am I being too hard on this movie or expecting too much? Do you think this Hubie Halloween stands out as being pure dreck or is it perfectly blending in with the other garbage he puts out?

In comparison, I liked Murder Mystery and didn't regret watching other pretty low bar movies like Sandy Wexler, The Cobbler, or That's my Boy. But this one...it just feels like it blatantly shits on his filmography almost by being an intentionally lame spoof of his classics.
