The ending of the Irishman should have been the entire movie.

The last 20 minutes or so were beautiful. The rest of the movie didn't really have much interesting character wise. The focus on the mob corrupting the rest of society was interesting but overall I didn't find it that layered a story. I honestly found the majority of it kind of forgettable.

I love the idea of having a regretful mobster face death and I feel there's so much more you can get out of the concept than just 20 minutes. You wouldn't wind up with a very plot driven movie but there's a lot of potential for poignant character work.
