Are there any films with a brilliant screenplay that are not done justice by the directing/cinematography? (Could also be vice versa)

I want to compare and contrast the role of actual film making (directing/cinematography) to the writing. I know that there are a lot of films that excel or suck at both but I would like to see one where one is good and one not so good. I also know that there are many more departments in a movie to consider such as production design and costume design but we can ignore those for now.
