The Hobbit movies are not THAT bad

I have the feeling some people pretend like this trilogy is some of the worst content ever produced. No, the quality of these movies doesn't even come remotely close to the Lord of the Rings trilogy, but that trilogy is just one of the most incredible pieces of cinema ever. It's not really a fair competition. However, if you stop comparing the two trilogies to one another, the Hobbit movies become really enjoyable. I'd even dare to say that An Unexpected Journey is legit a great movie from start to finish. And The Desolation of Smaug is a really fun adventure. Okay, the third one is fairly mediocre, but still, I would put it above all these recent boring, unoriginal, bland action movies a la Fast and Furious 9 or whatever.

It's just a fun, adventurous trilogy with great acting performances, and I think the hate is really overblown.
