Should I Bring Earplugs to Movies and Concerts?

I hope it is the right place to ask.

Since I am used to listening to music with a low volume, when I go to movies and concerts I am always annoyed by how loud the volume is. From what I heard, listening to a high volume could cause hearing damage. Most importantly as I said, it annoys me.

Is wearing earplugs a good idea? Do you guys do it?
