What silent movie changed the color of the lights to reveal the witch's makeup?

I was in a discussion with some other movie buffs, regarding practical makeup effects in early horror/supernatural films. Lon Cheney, Veidt, etc.

We could all recall a shot of an old woman who transitions in the scene into a witch. The process was done by changing the lights from one color (lets say blue) to its complement. The makeup was done in the first color, such that it was invisible in that lighting. As the scene transitions, the lighting reveals the blue makeup under a red light (colors are arbitrary here).

It's kind of the first instance of "morphing" in a movie.

Can anyone recall this movie, especially the title? I thought it might be Häxan, but I can't remember where the scene took place in the film.
