How Did 12 Angry Men Get So Popular with Young People?

It's ranked REALLY high on both the IMdb list and this sub's 2017 "favorite movies" survey.

I'm just wondering how it ended up getting so popular, compared to other 50's era movies that you see ranked high on other, much less populist lists. Lists like Eberts "Great Movies", AFI, Sight and Sound, and the first few Library of Congress inductees.

Movies like Some Like It Hot, On The Waterfront, even Ben Hur or From Here to Eternity or Giant or whatever. Is it because it's often shown in high schools? Or it's just a very easy movie for a kid/teen to wrap their head around?
