I have genuinely just been interested to know if anybody else enjoys this movie.
This has been one of my go to "fall asleep movies" for a couple of years just due to the overall lack of major plot and the overall mood created between the cinematography and music.
I recently just had the epiphany though that I ACTUALLY enjoy this movie and find something really cathartic about it.
The cast is insane, even down to the hilariously random small roles from Martin Lawrence, Zach Efron, and Jonah Hill.
I really have no idea who signed off to fund Harmony Korine to make this movie or if it was just a blatant vessel for money laundering but either way, I'm so glad it exists.
Generally I find his movies like Kids (I know he didn't direct), Gummo, and Spring Breakers to be impactful but really have very little replay value for me so it is interesting that this movie seems to have such a relaxed wandering spirit, like Moondog himself and that I seem to find such a high rewatch value in it.
It also carries the very impactful message that this life's "a fucking rodeo and I'm gonna suck the nectar and fucking rawdog it till the wheels come off".
Which I think everyone needs a reminder of in these trying times.
