Metacritic released a list of films frequently mentioned on best-of-decade lists to determine what the best films of the 2010's were

Metacritic aggregated best-of-the-decade lists published by a variety of film and entertainment publications in late 2019 and onwards. Individual lists are displayed at the bottom of the page, but in the table below, the most frequently mentioned titles are ranked according to their points system which gives bonus points for being ranked at the top of a list.

  • 3 points for each 1st place ranking

  • 2 points for each 2nd place ranking

  • 1 point for being ranked 3rd - 10th, or for being included on an unranked list of 10 or fewer titles

  • 0.5 points for being included on an unranked list of 11-20 titles

Here's the list:

  1. Mad Max: Fury Road (106.5 points)

  2. Moonlight (69 points)

  3. The Social Network (54.5 points)

  4. Get Out (51 points)

  5. Under the Skin (31.5 points)

  6. The Tree of Life (31 points)

  7. Inception (29.5 points)

  8. Inside Llewyn Davis (29.5 points)

  9. Boyhood (29 points)

  10. The Master (26 points)

  11. Parasite (20.5 points)

  12. Phantom Thread (19.5 points)

  13. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (19 points)

  14. Lady Bird (19 points)

  15. Arrival (18 points)

  16. Roma (15 points)

  17. La La Land (14.5 points)

  18. The Act of Killing (14.5 points)

  19. Carol (14 points)

  20. The Wolf of Wall Street (13.5 points)

  21. The Grand Budapest Hotel (12.5 points)

  22. Star Wars: The Last Jedi (12 points)

  23. Melancholia (11.5 points)

  24. Certified Copy (10.5 points)

  25. The Florida Project (10.5 points)

With a few qualms I can't really argue with this list. Most of the films on the full list are either arthouse or foreign films. I do feel like this list suffers from recency bias. 13/25 of the films listed are from the past 5 years or so, but that's just my opinion.
