Has a main actor or main cast died midway filming a blockbuster movie?

I'm sure there's some insurance purchased by the studios before beginning filming a huge movie but what if a main actor or an actor playing a very important character dies halfway filming it?

Wouldn't the studios be just majorly fucked? The cast and crew would have wasted huge amount of time on the project too.
