Despite it's flaws, Elysium is great and shines a light on ever growing wealth gap.

District 9 was one of the best sci-fi movies of the last 20 years, if not ever. Chappie was fun. Elysium is another great sci-fi movie but failed in many ways. People disliked various things like Jodie Fosters accent or the over the top character Sharlto Copley plays.

Despite that, it really hits the ever expanding wealth gap on the head IMO. I think it deserves more praise for the realistic details they give to the world, as well as not flinching when it comes to how a government can basically be bought and paid for by the ultra-wealthy leaving the vast majority of the world to fend for themselves.
